All the main buildings were built in 1930 and were the former residence of British Adventurer MR. Morriss. Many famous people in Chinese modern history live here. These include Madam Song Meilin, General Chen Yi and Premier Zhou Enlai. There are over ten foreign-style villas scatter in the grand garden including Taiyuan Villa(once called Marshall Residence).
