Elizabeth Hotel London is a friendly, private owned establishment. This hotel has an English character and charm, which offers relatively simple but thoroughly clean, comfortable and well maintained accommodation with a good English breakfast at moderate prices. It is situated at the edge of London's magnificent Hyde Park, the heart of the capital and the celebrated West End. It is close to Belgravia, only a few doors away from one of the residences of the late Sir Winston Churchill, and within walking distance of Buckingham Palace. There are easy connections to motorways and major routes out of town. And the hotel is most ideally placed for all districts of London, including Chelsea, Piccadilly and Westminster, as well as the main shopping centers, theatres and cinemas.
Elizabeth Hotel London occupies three private houses built in 1850 as elegant family homes on Lancaster Gate Terrace, as it was then known. It has an atmosphere that is essentially non-commercial. There are many fine prints portraying historic figures such as Elizabeth I, Mary Queen of Scots, King Charles I and II, Queen Victoria, St Thomas More, Sir Francis Drake, Sir Walter Raleigh, Nelson and Wellington. The hotel’s furnishing had been kept as close as possible to those of a London house in the mid nineteenth century. There are two staircases decorated with hand finished mezzo-tint engravings, etchings and traditional copper plate engravings after Turner, Gainsborough, Reynolds and Landseer. |
