Sweden is one of Europe largest countries in term of land size. The country is about 450,000 square kilometer (173, 700 square miles) in size, and measure about 1,600 kilometers from North to South, which is about the distance between Smygehuk (Sweden most southern point), to Rome (Italy’s capital). The country most north point is more than 300 kilometer to the north of Artic Circle and its most southern point (Smygehuk) is at the same latitude with Edinburgh of Scotland.
This country shares land border with Norway (to the west) and Finland (to the east). Denmark lies across the Kattegat Strait in the southwest.
Sweden is well known to many people as the country of popular and successful pop groups (such as ABBA, Cardigans and Roxette), as well as the origin of furniture maker IKEA. But this country has much more to offer. With a landmass that stretch for about half as long as the length of the whole Europe, Sweden has some of the last surviving area of wilderness found in Europe.
