Morocco has a population of about 29 million people out of which almost 40 percent are under 15 years old. This country has a land mass size which covers almost 710,000 square kilometers with a long coastline that faces the Atlantic Ocean. Most of its population is concentrated along this coast and the High Atlas Mountains.
This country is an ancient kingdom situated in the African continent. While its origins are typically Berber, Arab and African, it came under the influence of Carthage and Rome. Islam arrived in the country during the 7th century. Since then Morocco has been an independent power, and at times an empire. This is the only Arab country not to have fallen to the Ottomans. Morocco therefore has many faces.
