Fiji is an archipelago with 322 islands and 522 islets located in the South Pacific Ocean. Of these islands, 106 are inhabited. Two of its major islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, which account for 87% of the total population of about 900,000 people. Its capital is Suva found on Viti Levu. Total land area of these islands is about 18,270 square kilometers.
Fiji neighbors are Tonga to its east, Vanuatu and New Caledonia to its west, and Tuvalu, Wallis and Futuna Islands to its north.
Most of the islands terrains are mountainous (with peaks up to 1300 meters) with tropical forests. Fiji is one of the more developed of the Pacific island economies, with sugar export and tourism being some of its main economy drivers. The official language of the country is English.
