Belarus is a landlocked country located in Eastern Europe. It shares land border with Russia in the east, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the north.
This country has a land area of about 207,600 square kilometers with a relatively flat terrain that contains large tracts of marshy land. Polesia, the largest marsh territory in the country is also amongst the largest marshes in Europe. Many lakes and rivers (about 11,000 of them) are spread across the country. Belarus’s forest covers about 34 % of its total landscape, making it one of the most dominant natural resources in the country.
