Armenia is a landlocked and mountainous country located in the Southern Caucasus, sharing land borders with Georgia to the north, Turkey to the west, Azerbaijan to the east, and Iran and the Nakhichevan exclave of Azerbaijan to the south. While the country is geography situated in Western Asia, its politics and culture is closely aligned with Europe.
Armenia has a land area of about of 30 000 square kilometers with a terrain that is mostly mountainous with fast flowing rivers and few forests. Its population size is of about 3.2 millions people and is the second most densely populated of the former Soviet republics.
Armenia is one of the oldest and most historic civilizations in the world. This is first nation to adopt Christianity as its official religion. The capital of the country is Yerevan.
